श्रीगीतगोविन्द - संस्कृत एवम् हिन्दी अनुवाद Gita Govindam & Krishna Karnamritam
Sri Gita Govinda—the divine lyrical poem composed by the Rasikacarya, the poet Sri Jayadeva. Indeed, this song-filled Sri Gita Govinda is a true Mahakavya (great epic poem). Its pure melody and sweet, tender verses are so enchanting that not only humans and celestial beings, but even Lord Jagannātha Himself becomes captivated upon hearing them.
In His profound moods of divine love, Śrī Gaurāṅga Mahāprabhu would relish the Śrī Gīta Govinda, becoming completely absorbed and oblivious to Himself. The poetic beauty, sweetness, and graceful charm expressed in its verses have abundantly enriched the treasury of Sanskrit literature with an unparalleled jewel. More importantly, the ocean of divine love—the mahābhāva of Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Mādhava—flows through its nectarean waves, which is its supreme and unique glory.
Śrī Jayadeva has composed the entire work in twelve cantos (sargas) and twenty-four songs (gītas). Each canto has been carefully named according to its subject, and from these very titles the moods of Govinda’s heart become revealed—reflecting the emotional variations of His beloved, Śrī Rādhikā, who is the very embodiment of Mādanākhya Mahābhāva.
