Pratiṣṭhā-Vidhi is a comprehensive manual detailing the authorized Gaudiya Vaishnava procedures for Deity installation (Murti-pratistha) and Gṛha-praveśa (house entering) ceremonies. Based on traditional scriptures and practiced standards, this guide is ideal for devotees, temple priests, and householders seeking to perform sacred rituals with clarity and devotion. Compiled by Rūpānuga Pāramārthika Vidyāpīṭha, it preserves the spiritual integrity of these important samskāras in a structured and accessible format.
This book is the result of extensive research conducted by three eminent disciples of His Divine Grace Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Prabhupāda—Śrīpād Bhakti Gaurava Vaikhānasa Mahārāja, Śrīpād Bhakti Bhūdeva Śrauti Mahārāja, and Śrīpād Bhakti Pramoda Puri Mahārāja. All three were highly learned scholars from distinguished brāhmaṇa families. Under the guidance of Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī, they compiled a paddhati (manual) on Deity installation for the Gaudiya Math.
Their research drew upon three authoritative texts:
Nārada Pañcarātra, the principal Pañcarātrika text of the Gaudiya Sampradāya
Hari-bhakti-vilāsa, compiled by Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī from the notes of Śrīla Gopāla Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī
Purohita Darpana, a paddhati followed by the brāhmaṇa community of Bengal for nearly a century
After careful examination, Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī approved their work for use in his institution. However, the paddhati remained unpublished and was only available in note form or through oral transmission.
By the mercy of Śrīla Prabhupāda and Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura, and with the help of devotees from Śrī Gopīnath Gaudiya Math, Mayapur, and Śrī Keśavaji Gaudiya Math, Mathura, this pratiṣṭhā-prayoga (manual of Deity installation and temple construction) has been presented for the devotee community. The procedures described in this work are currently being followed in Śrīdhām Mayapur by the Śrī Rūpānuga Pāramārthika Vidyāpīṭha.
Compiled especially for those already familiar with Deity worship practices, this book preserves the traditional methods without unnecessary elaboration. To assist readers, a glossary of technical terms relevant to Deity installations has been included in the appendix.
