introduction to this book, Bhaktivinoda included the famous 47-page English essay, ‘Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu – His Life and Precepts.’ This introduction summarises the contents of the book’s Sanskrit verses. Accompanying the Sanskrit verses was a Sanskrit commentary entitled Vikāśinī Ṭīkā (‘Illuminating Commentary’) by the famous scholar of Navadvīpa, Śrī Śitikaṇṭha Vācaspati. Bhaktivinoda sent this book to a number of scholars, such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, and universities in the west, including Oxford University, Munich University, and McGill University in Montreal.
