The Glories of Sri Vrindavana | English Translation by HH Bhanu SwamiEnter the sacred world of Sri Vrindavana, the eternal abode of Sri Radha and Sri Krishna, through Sri Vrindavana Mahimamrta—a profound work dedicated to glorifying Vrindavana, its holy places, and its divine inhabitants.
Composed by Srila Prabodhananda Sarasvati, Vrindavana-Mahimamrta is traditionally described as consisting of 100 Satakas (centuries of verses). Of these, only 22 Satakas have been rediscovered, making this work a precious treasure of Gaudiya Vaishnava literature. This volume presents Satakas 1 through 17 in an accessible English translation by His Holiness Bhanu Swami.
The author expresses his deep longing to develop unwavering attachment to residing in Vrindavana, the sacred land where Sri Radha and Sri Krishna eternally manifest Their loving pastimes. His verses offer vivid and devotional descriptions of Vrindavana’s forests, groves, sacred places, devotees, and the intimate atmosphere of Radha-Krishna’s divine pastimes.
Srila Prabodhananda Sarasvati, a Tamil Brahmin associated with Srirangam, was originally connected with the Sri Vaishnava tradition. During Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s journey through South India in 1509–1510, Mahaprabhu stayed at the home of Venkata Bhatta, the father of Gopala Bhatta Goswami. Through the association and teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Prabodhananda Sarasvati became deeply absorbed in the path of devotion to Sri Radha and Sri Krishna.
