Gopala-tapani Upanisad: Tika By Visvanatha Cakravarti, Baladeva Vidyabhusana
The Gopala-tapani Upanisad, a part of the Atharva Veda, is a highly revered śruti scripture that directly glorifies Lord Kṛṣṇa as the Supreme Absolute Truth and promotes bhakti (devotional service) as the highest spiritual path. Quoted frequently by Gauḍīya ācāryas, this Upaniṣad holds a special place in the Kṛṣṇa-bhakti tradition.
Its primary subject is Krsna, and it provides a detailed explanation of the Krsna-mantra, offering both philosophical depth and devotional insight. This edition features traditional commentaries by two of the greatest Gauḍīya Vaisnava scholars:
Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura – a rasika acarya renowned for his deep bhakti realizations
Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana – the celebrated commentator on the Brahma-sutra, firmly establishing the Gauḍīya line
Translated by Bhanu Swami, this work is clear, authoritative, and spiritually uplifting—ideal for serious students of Vedānta, Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavism, or anyone on the path of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
