Narada Bhakti Sutra is a classic text on the philosophy and practice of pure devotional service (bhakti), presented through 84 concise aphorisms attributed to the sage Narada Muni.
 
In 1967, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada translated and wrote purports for 13 of the 84 aphorisms, which he referred to as "codes." In 1989, during the annual GBC meeting, Satsvarupa Dasa Goswami and Gopiparanadhana Dasa were requested to complete the remaining work. Both gladly accepted the assignment, particularly because of Satsvarupa Dasa Goswami's earlier involvement in Srila Prabhupada's original work on the text.
